LPA Board Meeting September 2024
September 17, 2024 LPA Board Meeting Community House 5 pm until 7:16 pm
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll Call — Present: Jen Daly McFadden, Sam Orr, Bill Gibson, Peggy Roberts, Rosanne O’Hara, Curt Brockway, Nancy Walker, Steven Dodd and Bryan Bentz.
Absent: None
Many members of the LP community attended this meeting.
Jim Krodel moved to change the order of the agenda to accommodate Stonington Planner Clifton Iler, who presented to the board the proposed town zoning changes. Bob Tabor seconded. Motion passed. At issue is whether these proposed changes will affect Lord’s Point property owners’ ability to build on our mostly non-conforming lots.
The town is seeking to create more affordable building opportunities. The LP board point of view is generally that our homes are already very close together and more building on small lots would create such overcrowding challenges as water and sewer issues.
Another issue up for discussion was the possibility of changing the Lookback rule regarding property improvements back to three years from the current one year. We support leaving it as is.
Much discussion followed. No votes were taken. It will be at least next spring before the town makes these decisions. We will stay on top of this.
Minutes — Steven moved to accept the minutes from August 27, 2024. Sam seconded. All in favor. Motion passed without change.
