June 24, 2025 LPA Board Meeting Community House 5:00 – 6:00 pm
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll Call — Present: Jen Daly McFadden, Sam Orr, Steven Dodd, Rosanne O’Hara, Nancy Walker, Bill Gibson and Bryan Bentz.
Absent: Curt Brockway, Peggy Roberts
There were 4 guests including Bob Maurice, Bob Tabor, Addie Kavulla and Libby Tomlinson.
Minutes: Sam moved to accept the minutes of the May 22 board meeting. Steven seconded. Minutes approved without changes.
Presidents Report: Thanks to Bob M and Edie for work done on the Records room. We should maintain our minutes as well as any documents provided at the board meetings. Documents should be provided to the clerk.
LPA letter sent regarding proposed changes to navigation buoys. Bob Tabor will attend next harbor meeting.
Jen and Steven met with Candace Palmer regarding James St. Permit is needed to add sand and would be included in the permits for the wall.
Garden Club tag sales were $1400, a success.
On Hopkins Street, encroachments were removed. Please provide any documents to Jen for the 33 Hopkins St FOIA request of 5/26/25.
Jen will release annual reminder regarding dogs on leash, plumbing – no flushing of wipes, clearing brush etc.
73 Langworthy lawsuit – Mr. Saari was deposed in early June.
Real Estate Agent for 17 Langworthy requested LPA documents
49 Langworthy is overgrown perhaps a blight. Jen will reach out to owner.
Regular Order of Business suspended. Motion made by Steven and seconded by Rosanne.
Addie Kavulla and Libby Tomlinson requested approval to do a fundraiser for a new projector for movie night about $350. Motion passed for a “Bake Sale Initiative” at the Block Party.
Clerk Report: N/A
Treasurer Report: Fiscal year ends June 30, please provide any outstanding invoices to Bill.
Standing Committee Reports
Docks: Docks finished, over budget but at a great savings. Boulder platforms are higher and consequently ramp is higher. There is a tripping hazard that dock committee is addressing by raising the end of the catwalk. Over the winter the whole deck will be replaced. Solar lights were recommended. Also, it was noted that the no swim and no wake signs need to be switched by Open Way beach. James Street raft needs to be replaced.
Roads: No report.
Beaches: Raking has begun.
Nominating: No report.
Recreation: Sign-up sheet online for various activities
Property: Records room 90% done. Basketball backboards need to be replaced. This would be a capital improvement. Bob M will contact Anthem.
LPA has 4 trash cans provided by Sam Orr and Barbara Heine.
Trestle Beach -it was observed that non-residents were using the beach. Please be aware if consistent, it will need to be addressed.
Community House: Roofing to begin June 25.
Insurance: Renewal is a 10.5% increase within budget. Renewal is as expiring and proposal was handed out. Discussion of Incident report and accident investigation procedures. Board should be advised of any incident. Nancy will provide OSHA form for future use. Also, should address formalizing procedure for checking smoke detectors.
Fire: No report.
Garden Club: Tag sale a success.
Pollinator Garden: No representative however, it was reported that they intend to be a separate club with a treasurer. Unlike the Garden Club, the pollinator club is only at LPA property and consequently, LPA has responsibility which would indicate that it cannot be a separate from LPA. $1500 was designated in the past and $885 has been reimbursed to date.
Website: No report.
Block Party: 5pm Dogwatch, DJ booked. One port potty to be donated by 71 Langworthy.
Coastal Resilience: No report.
Unfinished business:
James/Oak Street wall: Shore Design contract signed.
James and Ashworth tree: Scott Bussey gave approval for pruning. Steven will handle.
Tree: Bartlett advised tree in good health. Eversource okay. Consider removing dead wood.
New Business:
Docks: It was recommended that the core group be acknowledged with a gift card at the Block Party.
